Port Belly Sentosa

Last Friday, we were at Port of Lost Wonder for Sentosa Spooky Junior and it was our first time dining at Port Belly Sentosa even though we’ve been to POLW a few times. We grabbed two cups of fruit juices before checking out the Halloween party and eventually sat down in the cafe to eat after we were more or less done.

Love the glass bottles!

After ordering our food at the counter, we were given a number:

We ordered Rosti with oven baked chicken thigh which tasted really quite good – the chicken was moist and tender. There was sufficient gravy for both the chicken and the rosti so I hardly needed to touch the sour cream.

We also had BBQ chicken wings – my girl polished off about 3-4 of these.

The latte was good too and the nice part about it is that you don’t need to go about looking for sugar or any other sweeteners because it’s all on the stirrer. πŸ˜€

We’ll definitely be eating here again, especially when we visit POLW! Do note that on weekends and public holidays, Port Belly is open to only patrons of POLW.

UPDATE: We did go again, as we said we would! And here are more dishes we savoured.

It was a crazy lunch hour on a Sunday so it took a long while before we got our food. But eventually the first thing we got was our cappuccino (S$5++). Not sure if the quirky stirrer pictured above only applies for latte, but we definitely didn’t get it for our cappuccino.

The taste was average, nothing fancy.

The first main dish that appeared was the kids’ spaghetti bolognaise (S$8++). We were all so ravenous that even I forgot all about taking photos of it! I’ve only got hungry kids devouring the spaghetti.

It’s a much bigger portion than I’d expected and it’d serve perhaps three kids. Yup, guess who was the third kid that day? I’d say they are generous with the beef and I was very glad for that as most places serve their pasta with a lot of sauce but hardly any sign of meat.

Anyway, after that the dishes started coming real quickly and our table was full of food. Yup, I kinda over-ordered again – that always happens when I order food when I’m hungry.

Here’s the Wagyu steak sandwich (S$18++) for my hubby. The steak was yummy, but we thought the bread didn’t complement the steak very well.

I ordered a Traditional Hawaiian pizza (S$17++) and a Rosti with sour cream (S$6++) for sharing.

The Rosti with oven-baked chicken thigh was waaayyyy better than the plain one. Which also explains the large difference in cost. The salad was still good though.

The hawaiian pizza was average, nothing to shout about, though I’d have to say again, it’s quite a large pizza. Thin crust fortunately, so not that heavy, considering how much I’d ordered. Fortunately I didn’t order the waffle with ice-cream too. That’d have been overkill.

So yup, we arrived hungry and left extremely full. The bill for Sunday’s lunch came up to S$61.25 which we honestly thought was a little pricey for the food.

{Review+Giveaway} Dote nursing wear

Having breastfed for more than 5 years (and still counting), I truly appreciate the ease with which I can breastfeed when I’m wearing nursing clothes. If you’re a new breastfeeding mother and lack confidence, I say, get yourself some nursing wear and feel the boost in confidence. The problem with nursing wear however is that most are really just functional and there is hardly design or style to speak of. In fact, many of the first few pieces of nursing wear I bought earlier were just bought solely based on the coverage they gave and the ease of use rather than whether I looked good.

Now that I’ve done this breastfeeding gig for this long, I think it’s about time to look for nursing wear that is both functional and fashionable. And that’s just what Dote nursing wear is about.

I had the pleasure of choosing from Dote’s autumn collection for the review and I chose the Sidney top in peach (also available in blue) and the Julia dress in black (also available in plum).

Paired the top with a pair of denim shorts and ballet pumps for a short trip out to the library

I really love the soft fabric of the Sidney top and soft fabric’s really good for nursing because it’s easy to lift up and nurse (nursing opening: empire) and when the fabric gathers around near the baby’s face, you know your little one isn’t the least bit uncomfortable.

The Sidney top provides full coverage when nursing and is super comfy to wear in our warm and humid weather. I chose to wear it when we spent a day out at River Safari and was kept comfortable the whole time.

I wore the Julia dress when I went to celebrate my aunt’s birthday at Rise @ Marina Bay Sands last Tuesday and I received many compliments that night and the best part – nobody could tell that it was a nursing dress!

erm, lighting wasn’t good plus my mum took the photo. Haha. But you can tell that the dress is lovely, right?

Now, just in case you want a clearer photo, I forced my hubby to take a couple of quick shots before we rushed off to shower and tuck the kids to sleep (it was already half past eleven when we got back).

I love the 3/4 -length lace sleeves!

To nurse, pull up the top layer at the empire band to access nursing openings underneath. No photos while nursing my boy when I was in the dress as he didn’t ask for milk till we were in the car and it was late and impossible to get a shot in the darkness. This dress doesn’t provide full coverage as the Sidney top does – shows a little skin but it shouldn’t be obvious if someone is viewing from the front as it’d probably be covered by baby’s head.

The Julia dress can be worn during maternity and erm, in my case since I went for a dinner buffet, I thought it was the perfect dress to hide the bulge after binging. πŸ˜€
