… and that’s why despite my recent attempts to shave off some pounds post-holiday, I went ahead and agreed when Poon Confectionery asked if I could review their homemade CNY goodies.
I received their pork floss roll snack, almond cookies, pineapple tarts and green pea cookies.
The CNY goodies were all nice, but the unanimous vote for the favourite of the four snacks was the pork floss one. The kids loved that most – it was crunchy and the pork floss gave a savoury sweet finish.
The pineapple tart pastry was not overly flaky and yet was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. The pineapple paste was not too sweet too, so that was a winning point. And so that got our vote for second best. The kids weren’t very fond of the other two snacks, but my hubby and I were ok with it. There was the distinct taste and aroma of the nut/ green pea with crunchy bits amidst the sweetness.
Unlike mass-produced CNY goodies, Poon Confectionery goodies are all handmade with love and there are no preservatives or artificial flavours.
If you’re interested to try out their goodies for free, you can go to 502 Macpherson where there are more than 3o types of goodies to savour!
