Well, we have reached another milestone – the husband’s 50th birthday! The Durian Bakery reached out for a collaboration (our first since 2021!) last week, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect because durian is definitely my husband’s favourite indulgence. They kindly gifted us two treats that would make any durian lover’s heart skip a beat.
The Classic Mao Shan Wang Durian Cake
Let me start with the star of the show – their 6-inch Classic Mao Shan Wang Durian Cake. If you’re searching for the best durian cake Singapore has to offer, this is definitely worth considering. The cake features a generous amount of pure Mao Shan Wang durian, which is exactly what you’d expect from a premium durian dessert.

What impressed me most was how balanced the sweetness was. The cake isn’t overly sweet, which really allows the natural durian flavour to shine through. The Hokkaido fresh whipping cream paired beautifully with unsweetened white chocolate curls, creating layers of texture and taste that complement the durian perfectly.
My husband’s reaction? Pure satisfaction. All I heard was “Mmmmph” as he savoured each bite. When I looked at him with amusement, he added that his stomach was saying the same thing – which, in husband language, translates to “this is absolutely delicious.” It’s definitely a durian lover’s dream cake, and I can see why it’s their signature item.
D24 Durian Mochi
The second treat was a box of 6 D24 Durian Mochi, inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship. These little parcels are quite something – soft, dewy snow skin wrapped around what they claim is over 90% D24 durian flesh. And they are handmade too!

The texture is wonderfully chewy, and the durian flavour is intense and authentic. What I appreciated is that there’s minimal cream filler – it’s predominantly durian, which makes each bite feel genuine and satisfying.
Convenience Matters
One thing I really valued was their cake delivery service. We had arranged for the delivery timing to be 10am-2pm and of all days, my phone screen decided to malfunction and I spent the entire afternoon out waiting for the repair at the mall so having the treats delivered directly to our doorstep in the morning was incredibly convenient. The timing was impeccable in hindsight. The packaging was secure, and everything arrived in perfect condition. By the way, they offer same day delivery and delivery is free above $100.
Final Thoughts
Both treats exceeded our expectations and made my husband’s 50th birthday extra special. The quality of the durian used in both items is evident, and the craftsmanship shows. If you’re looking for premium durian desserts in Singapore, The Durian Bakery certainly delivers on both taste and quality.
