“My Family” – Homeschool Scrapbooking Co-op

I don’t think I’ve actually posted anything very concrete about what we do for homeschool. Probably the only time I did show something on the blog was when I shared a day in my life (2015 version). I’ll be updating my blog about our homeschool journey some time this month – keep a lookout for the post!

We started the year with two co-ops – one which we meet in the vicinity of our homes and another is our Mandarin co-op. For the past couple of months (we meet fortnightly now), we’ve embarked on a new theme – My Family. It was supposed to be a separate co-op from my Mandarin one but it turned out the same people expressed interest so we just took a break from our usual Mandarin co-op and focused on the moms’ interests instead, though it was wonderful going through old photos to show my almost four-year-old and chat about how much he has grown.

The scrapbooking co-op opened my eyes to the world of scrapbooking and definitely piqued my interest by several notches. It even made me sit down and finish up the mini travel album I started on a couple of years ago when I attended Scrappin’ Love’s workshop. Yes, you read right. I attended the workshop in 2013. 😀

My cover page! Nice?

This was the cover page I completed during the workshop but I’m proud to say that the interior is finally completed! I feel so accomplished!

So anyway, for our co-op, we spent a few sessions doing up an album to document our lil’ ones’ growth, there was a session on the family tree which I missed, and another session where we focused on doing up a photo frame with our family photo.

I really, really love the outcome and I must add that all these would not be possible without the generosity of my friend who extended her multifarious scrapbooking materials and her home to us for the co-op!

After several sessions, here’s the completed album!

Here’s sharing a few of my favourite pages!

I took this series of photos when I reviewed Ziaja’s bath products:

These are photo stickers printed from Canon Selphy CP910 (you can read my review).

The cute photo of him at the top was taken when we sent our girl to KidStartNow’s Chinese camp

This is one of my favourite photos from our Taiwan trip last December – which I erm, haven’t really sorted out the photos till now!

And here’s our family photo! I really, really love what I’ve put together here and it’s hanging on the wall now – you can see it the moment you enter the house!

Mad love this one! This photo was taken during his third birthday celebration. Our matching outfits were sponsored by Glitter Glam.

I’m terribly inspired to scrap something now, but I can’t decided what, and erm, I actually don’t have many resources to do so, so I need to really work out something first before I invest in this hobby. I’ve always loved ogling at scrapbooking stuff – I just have this soft spot for pretty things, especially paper and paper flowers – but I’ve not really taken scrapbooking up as a hobby seriously because it’s not exactly a cheap hobby. If you know any good deals, please share with me, ok??

Upcycling a McDonald’s serving sheet

Since there was an interest in my crafts, specifically my upcycled magnets in my earlier post about what I do during my Me-Time, I thought I’d share more upcycling projects with you.

Actually, I’ve been meaning to do this post in a while but I’ve been so tied up with other commitments. Anyhow, here’s a simple upcycling project. Though it can’t be replicated anymore for the time being because this isn’t in stores anymore, I’m still posting it because I think we can all develop an eye for what can be upcycled instead of just chucking stuff away.

This was a sheet of paper on a serving tray at McD during the Minion craze in June.

Ironically the guy who likes to throw stuff away (aka my hubby) was the one who salvaged this sheet home. He passed it to me when he got home and said, “I think you can use this to make something for the kids”. Imagine my delight that finally my upcycling efforts have rubbed off him.

Do you know what I made with it eventually?

Well, I decided that I’d make a simple small noticeboard of sorts for the kids! I cut out a sheet of drawing paper to size, stuck it on the sheet of paper then laminated it and punched the corners.

Tada! That was simple enough, wasn’t it? The kids decided that I should write their tasks on it, and even though my little one can’t read so well yet, they were found to check out their minion notice board at the fridge every day!

I hope you like this and upcycle stuff alongside me! Share with me your projects if you do!
