Little Man turns 3!

It’s been a rather emotional period for me with my toddler transitioning to preschooler status, and with my girl’s impending admission to primary school next year. How could time pass so quickly?

I’ve been patted on the shoulder and back many times by people who tell me, with their utmost sympathy, that my life will get better when my kids grow up – but that’s really not what I’m looking forward to.

How could life be better when the house is quieter with no childish squeals, when there is no pattering of little feet, no more little arms to adorn my neck, and kids whom I can only steal kisses from when they are fast asleep because it’s uncool to kiss mummy? Pray tell, how could I possibly look forward to a life like that (though admittedly, that day will come)?

Celebrating their birthdays is bittersweet because on one hand I’m so happy to watch them grow up and yet I wish they won’t grow up so fast so they’ll always be my little ones. I’m not even sure that makes sense to anyone else!

Well, so anyway, my little one is not so little anymore –

and my beautiful Princess will soon be acquainted with the land of stress next year

I really need all the time in the world to LOVE them and BE with them!

This time my boy’s birthday is even more special because my girl is the one to play the Happy Birthday song for him (I’m her piano teacher if you missed that post; and I taught her the song only that morning)!

And yes, he chose the SAME PANDA cake again!

What to do, the birthday boy calls the shots! Let’s see if it’d be the same panda cake again next year! ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy happy birthday to my little boy!

Note: This post is a week late because I’m just not very good at churning out posts immediately after events! Especially when I’m super emo!

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Review

We started our September term break with a bang! After the stressful and fast-paced Term 3 at school, my hubby was elated to celebrate the end of term and wind down on Teachers’ Day with a weekend staycation at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport.

An air-conditioned seamless link bridge from Terminal 3 at Changi Airport connects the hotel to the airport, so whether or not you’re checking in for a staycation or for a longer transit period, you’d have no problem locating the hotel.

It was our second time staying at Crowne Plaza and the kids simply loved the beautifully furnished lobby. Can you tell that there’s a fruit theme here? ๐Ÿ™‚

There are water features aplenty along the walkways and corridors:

This time we had the privilege of staying in a Club Room on Level 3 – the same floor as the pool. We were greeted with a generous fruit platter and the kids quickly helped themselves to their favourite fruit!

Theย chic soundproofed room (yes, we hardly heard any planes!) with floor-to-ceiling windows is spacious (36sqm) and the calming cappuccino and soft green colours are very soothing.

Monkeying around with their favourite fruit!

The beautiful flower motif on the glass panels adds to the tropical feel of the place but the white and muted tones of browns continue to provide a tranquil haven for a restful stay.

Not only is it aesthetically appealing, the flowers are very strategically placed too such that you can continue to watch TV from the washroom yet remain out of sight from peeking eyes (if any! haha!)

Refresh in the separate bathtub or rainfall shower:

The amenities in the room include a nespresso machine, an iPod docking station and a collection of refreshing shampoo and shower gels.

The last time we stayed at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, we had a room that overlooked the Sky Train station so the kids spent much of their time staring out of the windows. This time, as mentioned, we stayed on the same floor as the pool. And the cool part of our room was that we had another door in the room and it opened up to lead us directly to the pool area!

Apparently, eating outside the room, lounging by the poolside is more fun!

There’s no kids’ pool or kid-friendly features at the pool though and the pool is pretty deep for kids with most parts of the pool at 1.2m. But I don’t know of any other hotel that features a view like this from the pool!

The water is pretty cold too so it’s best you just jump in straight! ๐Ÿ˜€

We lounged for awhile after the swim then headed for the Club Lounge for refreshing evening cocktails and canapes.

The food was exquisite and we literally didn’t need dinner after simply eating the canapes!

At all other times, you can head to the Club Lounge for a coffee/tea and delectable cookies.

On our first morning, we went for breakfast at the Club Lounge. There are generally less people during breakfast hours at the lounge compared to the restaurant so it was very cosy and exclusive. The spread, however, is less comprehensive upon comparison.

On the second morning, we decided to try out Azur for our complimentary breakfast buffet. Even if you’re not a guest of the hotel, you can still dine there.

As mentioned, there are more options available at Azur – there’s an egg station where you can choose how you want your eggs done, a noodle station where noodles are cooked on the spot for you, fried noodles, porridge, chapati and so on, while the lounge offers mainly a continental breakfast menu.

The staff at both the Club Lounge and Azur are very polite and attentive.

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay! The proximity to the airport which offers a multitude of dining options, a supermarket, free playgrounds, a wide array of shops where GST is absorbed regardless of whether you are flying (click here for the full list of participating merchants which absorb GST), planes to admire from the viewing galleries, completes the entire vacation experience!

And if you’re jetting off somewhere, remember to check out my post where I share 10 awesome features not to be missed at Changi Airport (transit areas).

[Note: Even though we love staycations and have stayed at many hotels in Singapore, I’ve only begun to document our stays of late so this is a growing list. You can read about our stay at Equarius Hotel, Festive Hotel @ RWS, Oasia Hotel, Village Hotel Katong, Village Hotel Changi]

Disclosure: Richly blessed this year, our staycation at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport was provided by Changi Airport Group. All opinions are mine.
