Giveaway: December holiday art workshop passes

HeART studio, where we enrolled Alicia after she showed an inclination towards art (you can read my review here), will be holding holiday art workshops and I have a total of FOUR workshop passes (each worth $45) to giveaway!

There will be two passes for the Pinch-a-pot class and two passes for the Christmas wreath class. The workshop duration is 1 hour 15 minutes and this is a drop-off class (unaccompanied by adult).

The Pinch-a-pot class (for 3-4 years old)

In this workshop, children will be dealing with air dry clay, watercolour cake and brushes. They will be taught the steps of forming a vase with clay: wedging, pinching, coiling, slab.

Benefits of young children playing with clay:

  • Clay helps to strengthen the muscles on the hand especially the fingers thus improving fine motor skills
  • Clay helps to activate the kids’ minds and creativity and imagination to form something concrete.
  • Clay is used in many art schools as one of the segments of art curricula.

Christmas wreath (for 3-4 years old)

In this class, children will be provided with an array of colourful materials including paper plate, crepe papers, ribbons, and clay to design a Christmas wreath. Using materials with different colours, the workshop aims to cultivate the kids’ artistic values. To make the workshop more interesting to the child, the lesson will include clay moulding (read the benefits of playing with clay above). Using clay, the kids will design small objects such as stars and other embellishments to paste onto the Christmas wreath.

If you have a child, aged 3-4 years old, or know someone who has a child of that age, read on and pass on the good news!

Goodbye, stereotypical Dad

I read The Blogfather’s post about Making Fathers look bad (update: link has been removed) and concurred that too often, attention is given to Moms as the only nurturing caregiver, neglecting the dad’s role in the family.

How often do you actually see dads being in the limelight?

In my post today, I would like to share with you a precious moment I captured which I think encapsulates the sort of love a father has for his child, a tender moment which puts all stereotypes of dads being the laid-back, unimportant one at home to rest.

Do you also have a non-stereotypical dad in your home?

For dads, it’d be wonderful to hear your thoughts on this matter!
