Singapore’s Sports Stars {Review}

With the conclusion of Rio 2016 Olympics, I thought I’d share this book about Singapore’s Sports Stars with you in case you have kids who are keen to find out more about the sports stars in Singapore, apart from Joseph Schooling.

This Let Me Learn book is one of the books from the Let Me Read series, where Timmy & Tammy discover amazing and inspiring facts about our culture, our people and our home, Singapore.

Here’s a quick look at the contents:

It starts naturally with an introduction to the Olympics, and Singapore’s first Olympian.

I like that the book has segments like the one above (“Words to Know”). so that young children have more guidance in reading.

There are also quotes by the athletes in the book as well as this one above, which I thought is really meaningful.

And thankfully Joseph Schooling is already included in this book as one of our sports stars but they’ll have to probably edit the next edition to include that he won the Men’s 100m Butterfly in Rio 2016. 😀

I also like that included in the book are stories about the athletes’ lives, how they train, how much hard work they put in, and how they apply that to other aspects of their lives.

Overall, the book is informative, very suitable for children, saved me loads of time searching for the information myself, and came just in time for the Olympics. We actually got the book at the start of the Olympics but we’ve been taking turns to fall ill so here’s the review – better late than never.

I must add that the book ends with this (see photo below) – very Singaporean. 😀

While it’s kinda good to check for careful reading/ comprehension, I thought this was a bit unnecessary, but if the kids enjoy it, then I guess it’s alright!

This book is a Level 4 book in the Let Me Read series, and so it has more words than the other levels, and is more suitable for those already able to read. That of course shouldn’t stop you from getting the book if your children are interested, since you can read it to your children for now. They can always re-read this later on their own when they become confident readers.

The book costs $8.90 (excl. GST) and is currently available at all major bookstores.

Also by the same publisher is Timmy & Tammy’s Guide to Primary One which is expected to be released in September, so keep a lookout for it if your preschooler is heading off to Primary One soon!

Disclosure: We were provided with a copy of the book. No monetary compensation was received.

Pure Rain SuperJet Wide Shower Head Review

It’s been more than a month since we got our bathrooms new shower heads.

When we were asked if we would like to try out the Pure Rain SuperJet Wide shower head, we decided it was time to change out the old ones. Here’s why we were sold on the idea of getting the new one.

  • The Pure Rain SuperJet Wide shower head has triangular water plate holes which makes the water cluster smaller to create a soft and silky feeling mist shower, which is ideal for especially young children.

  • Although you can’t really see that the holes are triangular, the patent triangular water spray plate hole technology reduces water consumption by 25-50% and yet increases water spray pressure by up to 400-600% compared to normal shower heads.

  • Negative ions shower
The patent triangular water spray plate hole technology makes the shower head release 421,000 anions per 1cc of water so that we enjoy both strong flow and soft mist spray shower.

  • Filter – Removal of rust and lime
A micro fabric filter inside the shower head removes debris and rust. The filter can be washed/soaked/rinsed every few months and will probably need replacement probably after one year or more.

So what to do if you have an existing shower head like me? There are no complex installation processes. Simply unscrew the old shower head and fix in the new one. Voila!

See how my hubby changes out the old shower head and also how it compares to the new Pure Rain SuperJet Wide shower head in the video below:

For a thorough demonstration of the Pure Rain SuperJet, please view the video at this link.

It really does feel better using the Pure Rain SuperJet compared to the old shower head. The first time we used it to shower the kids, they exclaimed that it’s so gentle and comfortable! It’s really quite difficult to explain how the shower head is more powerful yet more gentle at the same time – you really have to experience it for yourself! After using it for more than a month, we can truly say that we enjoy the new shower head, and I think the best part is that it is available at an affordable price of $69!

For a limited period only (from today to 21/9/16), the Pure Rain Superjet WIDE shower head will be offered at a promotion price of SGD59 (usual price SGD69) for my readers.
