Our 7th wedding anniversary

We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary last Sunday without the kids. It’s been a few years since we have done that and we were really glad to have some time alone as my mum and aunt very kindly helped us to babysit.

It’s one of the years where we really thought long and hard about what to do on our anniversary night out because we rarely get a chance for a date night. We tried to locate our favourite restaurant when we were still dating but it’s closed down, together with the rest of the East Coast Park tenants affected by the closure for development and calls made to the chef and owner were to no avail.

We then decided we would eat something that we hardly get to, with the kids in tow and that would be either buffets or spicy food. Since we are both conscientiously doing yoga to tone and shed some fats, post-mooncake season (I know, it’s been a long while but the effects unfortunately are still very lasting), we decided we’ll settle with some simple fare instead and go sing our hearts out at karaoke (which we haven’t been on our own since we had kids!).

And so that was the grand plan and we dropped the kids off at 7pm at my mum’s and headed out for Porn’s – Sexy.Thai.Food which was located in the same building as the KTV place. That was chosen purely out of convenience and it fit into the bill of being food which we don’t eat with kids around. More on the meal in another post!

We had a great time singing our lungs out – and we had to try to sing our wedding song – Endless Love – and Kenny Roger’s Through the Years was also an extremely apt song choice. Time passed uber fast that evening and before we knew it, it was 10pm and time to pick up the kids.

We’re thankful though for the special night out, the time spent together, for our kids, family and all the ups and downs that we’ve been through together in our 7 years of marriage. Here’s to many more years of sweet memories we will have together! 🙂

Congrats on another beautiful year of marriage! When our kids were young, we NEVER had date night or time alone, so I totally understand. It wasn’t until our three were old enough before we felt comfortable to allow them to stay with their grandparents who live in another state for a week. Babysitters? Nope, we never had one. We just didn’t feel comfortable leaving our kids in the charge of a teenager. Yes, we’re paranoid…just a bit. 😀 It was nice to meet you. Have a happy WW!
