As promised, here’s the second part of my Emily Lim books review and giveaway.
In Bunny finds the right stuff, Bunny is a floppy soft toy who is short on stuffing. He’s upset about his lack of stuffing and tries to stuff himself with various items with no success. Eventually, when Bunny tries to reach for the clouds, Bunny’s friends – Dinosaur, Kangaroo and Grizzly – step in to help him by giving him a little of their stuffing and it is then they discover the stuff that friendship is made of.
I love the clever play on words –
and my kids love the beautiful illustrations –
Just Teddy is about a lonely teddy bear who ‘often wondered if there were other toys just like him’. One evening, he decides to take a walk around the factory to find out. In his quest, he tries ways and means to try to fit in with other toys but he never manages to do so.
Eventually a little girl falls in love with him, takes him home, cleans him up and discovers that he’s not just teddy, but a ‘one-of-a-kind’ bear which is of ‘great value’ (and if she sells him, she can buy many other teddies).
She doesn’t, of course.
Just Teddy is a touching story of how a bear struggles to fit in, only to discover that he’s great the way he is, and there’ll be someone who’ll love him for who he is – definitely a story we would like to share with the kids!
