Last Saturday I took part in the Big B event – a mass breastfeeding challenge to set a new national record in the Singapore Book of Records for the most number of mums breastfeeding together at the same time.
Together with some of my mom blogger friends, we joined the event and I must say, it was quite an experience breastfeeding with 159 other mums!
While we breastfed, we listened to a talk delivered by Mrs Wong, a well-known Lactation Consultant and researcher and I actually learnt something new that day, after having breastfed for 5 years and counting!
She mentioned that when breastfeeding the newborn in the first few days, NEVER pat the baby’s bum while breastfeeding because that gives the baby the signal to fall asleep at the breast. Hmm, that sounds very logical, isn’t it? 🙂 I shall bear that in mind should I ever have baby #3!
