It’s been a few weeks into Term 3 of school. What that means is that the initial post-June holiday energy is virtually depleted. I find it’s increasingly difficult to get the kids (and myself) out of bed each weekday morning. You’d have thought that years of practice of waking up at unearthly hours to get to school and work would have made things a piece of cake. But truthfully, it isn’t.
For a habitual night owl, waking up early in the morning can never be a natural course of things.
In the mad rush to settle down into a new school routine for myself, adjusting to the new classes I’ve taken over this term and preparing lessons, I have not had time to really explore the chicken essence.
I was really very surprised to find that this was not the usual chicken essence in a bottle.
In fact, it was in a packet.
All I needed to do was to warm it up by steeping it in hot water for a few minutes. In the mornings now, after making the soft boiled eggs for my hubby, I’ll just steep a few packets of the chicken essence in the same metal container for two minutes. And I get really concentrated, delicious chicken essence.
The chicken essence is derived from their unique method of boiling, enabling a more complete extraction of nutrients. Through boiling (8 hours), both micromolecules (collagen, peptide, amino acids etc.) and macromolecules (proteins) can be fully extracted from the chicken. In fact, you can feel the slight sticky texture after consuming, evidence of the collagen present in the essence. The delicious taste and natural yellow colour of the chicken essence make it very acceptable to children (compared to the dark colour of traditional chicken essence).
My children definitely really love the chicken essence and would always ask for a second serving. Obviously, I’d tell them that we can’t have too much of a good thing on a single day. They understand, but it doesn’t ever stop them from asking.
The chicken essence is suitable even for children, but not for those under two. Not only is it good for children, students, working adults and the elderly can also take it to help boost the immune system and combat fatigue. The high protein content makes it very suitable for daily nourishment.
Apart from its excellent taste, it is also an excellent choice for pre- or post-natal care, recovery from sickness and strengthening of health. For pregnant mummies, the chicken essence helps in the growth of the baby, and is helpful in the fetal support during pregnancy; for mummies who have just delivered, it repairs cells and tissues, and helps with post-natal wound healing. For mummies who intend to breastfeed, the chicken essence also promotes post-natal milk secretion and enhances the quality of the milk. With so many positive attributes, it is no wonder that Lao Xie Zhen Premium Boiled Essence of Chicken (having over 80 years of history in Taiwan) is voted the best chicken essence in Taiwan and is very popular among Taiwanese mummies.
Now that we’ve been trying to eat clean and try as much as possible to eat food sans additives, chemicals or preservatives, I was really glad to see that there are only two ingredients listed – chicken (2nd generation free range hens that are at least 12 months old) and premium pork ribs. In fact, it is clearly stated that there are no preservatives added and is 100% natural. There’s also no cholesterol. At a mere 14.4kcal per pack, every drop of goodness is worth every calorie.
Conveniently packaged in a special 4-layered opaque satchet directly imported from Japan, it is safe to warm it up in hot water and consume. Due to the light weight of the satchet, it is easy and convenient to bring around, especially if you travel overseas for work often.
We’ve been reaping the benefits of boosted energy levels apart from the enjoyment of the taste of the chicken essence. If you are interested in buying the chicken essence for yourself, your kids or your elderly parents, you can get it from Hao Yi Kang, the exclusive distributor of Lao Xie Zhen Premium Boiled Essence of Chicken.
