Kids love creating and building, which is why toys like Lego are evergreen. But if you’re thinking of offering other than the usual toys to your kids, here’s something you can consider. Thinkertoyland™ is a very versatile construction set that targets children 3 years and above. Made of ABS materials that exceeds all current US and European toy safety standards, this delightfully colourful construction toy has 11 patents and 7 more pending. The unique selling point of Thinkertoyland™ is that unlike other construction toys, children’s Thinkertoyland™ creations can actually move or work with gears, strings, and wheels! Imagine constructing a spinning merry-go-round, a working tow-truck that lifts or a windmill that works with gears.
We were glad to be gifted with two sets of toys for the Thinkertoyland review:
(i) Alice Yard
(2) Speeding Kart
I opened up one set at a time to avoid mixing up the pieces and for them to concentrate properly. First I got them to sort the pieces so that it’d be easier when doing the construction.
There is a sheet of coloured instructions with step-by-step pictures to show how to create a few items. But of course, you are not limited to building only those and can make any creations you can think of!
Here are two examples of what can be built from the Alice Yard set:
I was quite happy that the toys arrived on a day that I had to attend the Philips Airfryer launch on my own since the kids would then have something to occupy themselves with together with their dad. And since my hubby is quite a builder too, I left the Speeding Kart set for them to open up while I was away.
And of course they had to test it out!
Overall, I like that the parts are made of non-toxic, durable and resilient plastic and EVA foam panels and it’s a toy that you should get if your child is into gears and it also improves motor skills, such as hand-eye coordination. Besides, I think building a toy which can eventually move properly (for instance the speeding kart) is a real bonus! However, I found some of the parts of the Speeding Kart to be a bit too stiff, and I’ve provided my feedback accordingly and I’ve been informed that that would be conveyed to the factory.
Now, the good news! TWO sets of Thinkertoyland toys are up for grabs – Alice Yard (worth $29.90) and Speeding Kart (worth $49.90).
