Review of 3M Nexcare™ bandages {+ Giveaway hamper}

It was only when my hubby injured his finger that I was really thankful that I had bandages on hand in my first aid kit! For the small but deep cut he suffered, I was glad I had a choice of using such a small bandage (3M Nexcare assorted 30s comes in three sizes, all in one box) for maximum comfort. From the picture below, you can barely tell that he has the bandage on and the bandage adhered very well despite the location of his injury which was at the fingertip – so far this is the only brand of bandage I have tried that can stick snugly at such an odd angle as there is no extra bandage material to get in the way. The other two sizes are ideal for normal cuts and injuries and offer the same protection.

I don’t know about you but I have given up on bandages that loosen and fall off when I wash my hands. It’s not only the inconvenience of having to keep changing the bandage that gets to me; it’s the pain of a fresh wound when water comes into contact with the wound that really irks me. If it’s painful for adults, imagine how a kid would feel if we used a bandage that isn’t waterproof!

Fortunately, 3M Nexcare waterproof bandages stay on in water and keep water out so no worries about pain or having to re-apply another bandage just because you had to get your bath or wash your hands. The unique patented diamond-shape provides a 360° seal around the pad to ensure that water, dirt and germs are kept at bay while your wound heals. With this bandage, it is good to know that I can go about my daily routine as per normal while my wound heals properly with the protection it offers.

It is also easy to apply – it boasts of single-hand application – something good to know for me as I would be able to apply the bandage with one hand (with the other hand presumably busy holding on to the clingy baby!).

Apart from these handy-size bandages that we are most accustomed to using, 3M has also recently released a new range of Nexcare Large dressings which are ideal for abrasions, cuts, minor burns, scalds and post-surgical incisions. Nexcare Large dressings not only offer superior protection against water, dirt and germs, they are also breathable to aid recovery. These large dressings will come in handy for those who have very curious, adventure-seeking kids who may now and then get larger abrasions and cuts in the course of their outdoor activities and explorations. A plus point about these large dressings is that the transparent film allows me to monitor healing of the wound without having to peel away at the sides for a peek. If there is something wrong with the wound, I’d be able to tell immediately and get appropriate medical attention. With squirmy little ones who may resist getting their wound checked, this feature is a life-saver.

I, for one, keep my first-aid box very well-stocked. With the wide range 3M Nexcare offers, my first-aid kit can be said to be well-prepared for unexpected injuries, not just for myself, but my whole family since I have two young children who are super risk-takers and little explorers.

To date, 3M Nexcare has the widest range of bandages and dressings and it even has a dedicated range of bandages for healing blisters which are all too common for ladies who love to wear beautiful strappy heels!
