Thanksgiving was celebrated this month and as November comes to an end, I decided to write about what I’m thankful for. After all, it’s been awhile since I’ve written a thankful post.
My blog has been richly blessed this November but blogging is only a part of my life, and so we start with the most important things that I am thankful for.
#1 I’m thankful for my husband
We’ll be celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary this Saturday and yesterday I reminisced with one of our wedding photo shots. It is truly amazing how time flies, but hasn’t changed our love for each other one bit – ok ok, we love each other more now. 🙂
#2 I’m thankful for the children and our health
We’ve been suffering from a vicious flu bug for almost a month. Each time one of us recovers, someone else gets it and it gets passed on again and again. We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, at least I hope.*crossing fingers and toes*. Despite the illness that plagued us, I’m so glad the children were still happy and could still function as per normal.
#3 I’m thankful for being a part of the Singapore Mom Bloggers group.
19 August 2009, I started Simply Mommie on a whim and I abandoned it (more or less) by early 2011 but the outgoing mummy bloggers managed to inspire me to revive my blog. From an almost-abandoned blog, Simply Mommie quickly got its own domain name, managed to achieve a comfortable 5-digit page views per month, more than 3000UVs and in October I made the major decision to migrate from Blogger to a self-hosted wordpress site – and everything happened in just a span of 3 months and by November, I have settled down comfortably in my ‘new’ blog. The Singapore mummy bloggers have shown me that there is so much more to blogging than just writing about the mundane day-to-day events and that even the mundane can be transformed to interesting content. I learn new things every day.
#4 I’m thankful for my mentor
I’ve had a couple of mentors when I was working and I was even mentor to some. But I’ve never come across a mentor who is so willing to share her expertise and offer help whenever I’m unsure of anything. And of course, you know by now if you’ve subscribed to my blog and my Facebook page, that this blogging mentor of mine is none other than Dominique of Dominique’s Desk. Without her, I think I would never have been able to transit so smoothly from Blogger to a self-hosted wordpress site.
#5 I’m thankful for wonderful opportunities
This November, God sent me happy surprises. An editor from DailyCandy approached me to feature my blog and the article will be published in the second week of December. On top of that, my blog has been featured by In Lieu of Preschool and Living Montessori Now, both big names in childhood education and Maggy from Red Ted Art actually stopped by my blog to pay me a compliment! While I am almost giddy from the excitement, I am also deeply aware that all things wouldn’t have been possible if I wasn’t richly blessed by God. And for that, I am very very thankful.
What are you thankful for this November?
